Battleship Silver
This image of the Battleship Silver taken in State Room of the Rhode Island State House. A gift to the USS Rhode Island from the people of Rhode Island in 1907, this ornate formal service was hand-crafted by the famous Gorham Manufacturing Company of Providence and contains a total of 4502 troy ounces of sterling silver.
In 1977, the silver was stolen while on display in its former location, outside of the Senate chamber. It was recovered a short time later and again placed on display in the State Room. Currently the Silver is in storage.
More information on the Rhode Island State House, and the origin of the above image, can be found at http://www.state.ri.us/shtour/staterm.htm
