USS Louisiana, Submarine (SSBN-743) History
The contract for the USS Louisiana  (SSBN-743) was Awarded to General Dynamics, Electric Boat Division, Gorton, Connecticut, 26 May 1987; her keel laid 6 July 1987; launched 15 August 1992; delivered to the USN 18 June 1993; and commissioned 10 August 1993.
Louisiana is the last Trident submarine and was built by the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics at New London, Connecticut. She was officially christened on 27 July 1996, also in New London. Louisiana was sponsored by New Orleans native Patricia O'Keefe and Commissioned 6 September 1997 at the Trident Naval Base, Kings Bay, Georgia.
