Rear Admiral William H. Emory, From Hampton Roads to San Francisco commanding officer of the Second Division, his flagship being the USS Georgia. Admiral Emory transfered his flag to the USS Louisiana, becoming Commander of the Third Division from San Francisco to Puget Sound (and then back to San Francisco). He continued this command for the remainder of the cruise.
